Martha Stewart Partners with Canopy Growth

Canopy Growth Corporation (NYSE: CGC) and Sequential Brands Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: SQBG) announced on Thursday that lifestyle icon, Martha Stewart, has joined the Company in an advisory role where she will assist in the development of CBD-based health products for both people and animals.

“I am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living,” said Martha Stewart. “I’m especially looking forward to our first collaboration together, which will offer sensible products for people’s beloved pets.”

Canopy’s collaboration marks an important step towards normalizing the cannabis business. Celebrity partnerships can serve as a key component to building customer trust in an industry where some consumers are still on the fence. Canopy Growth subsidiary, Tweed Inc., partnered with entertainment star and cannabis authority, Snoop Dogg, back in 2016.

Following the passage of the Farm Bill in 2018, Canopy also announced a major expansion move in January of this year. The Company intends to invest between USD 100 Million and USD 150 Million in a hemp industrial park in New York State. “In New York we see an opportunity to create products that improve people’s lives,” said Bruce Linton, Chairman and Co-CEO, Canopy Growth. “In the process, we will create jobs in an exciting, highly profitable new industry. I applaud the political leadership at the federal and state level that has allowed today’s announcement to become reality.”

The Company currently operates 10 licensed cannabis and hemp production sites with over 4.3 million sq. ft. of production capacity. Canopy became the first cannabis company to be publically traded in April 2014 and the first cannabis-producing company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2018.
